Processing 'waiting days'

If you want to add a so called 'waiting day' for a team member, you can process this in the following way.

Many collective labour agreements specify that the first day of sick leave is unpaid. This is known as a waiting day. To record this, simply change the time entry type to Sick. This makes it clear that the employee was off sick, while allowing the waiting day to be processed correctly.

Since the first day of sick leave is unpaid, you should not enter any hours:

  • Set the shift's end time to match its start time.

  • This will record 00:00 hours.

  • As a result, the team member's overtime balance will be reduced for that day, meaning those hours will need to be made up at a later date.

A two-day waiting period?

Does your collective labour agreement include a two-day waiting period? If so, repeat the above steps on the second day of sick leave.

Update multiple time entries at once

If you select multiple time entries, you can update their start and end times at the same time so they are the same. Find out how it works.
