Revenue group vs. Sales area

Learn about the difference between integration based on groups or sales areas

Updated today

When you activate a POS integration, you will need to manage revenue groups within the system. For the POS integrations with Lightspeed L Series and Untill, you can also choose to use sales areas instead of revenue groups.

  1. Per revenue group: Set up your integration by revenue group to distinguish between revenue from, for example, the bar and the kitchen.

  2. Per sales area: Set up your integration by sales area to divide revenue across different sales locations.

Revenue groups

You create revenue groups in your POS system to categorise sales. Common examples in hospitality are ‘Drinks – high’, ‘Drinks – low’, and ‘Kitchen’. These are just examples — the exact setup depends on how you categorise your revenue in your own POS system.

Each product in your POS is linked to a revenue group — for example:

  • ChampagneDrinks – high

  • LemonadeDrinks – low

  • Scrambled eggs with baconKitchen

A single receipt can include items from multiple revenue groups. Your POS system tracks this by assigning each product to its relevant group.

When you set up your integration per revenue group in Eitje, the system retrieves the revenue data exactly as reported by your POS. So, if your POS shows €100 in the revenue group ‘Drinks – high’, Eitje will also retrieve €100 for that group.

This guide explains how to set up revenue groups in Eitje and link them to the corresponding revenue groups from your POS system.

Sales area

Just like the other option, this setup retrieves revenue per revenue group, but now you can also specify it per sales area. This is useful if you want to compare revenue between different physical areas in your venue — for example, the terrace and indoors, or the first and second floor.

In Eitje, you can link all revenue groups per zone to a specific group.
For example, if your POS has 'Terrace – Drinks high' and 'Basement – Drinks high', you can group them under 'Terrace' and 'Basement' in Eitje. This way, you can easily track and compare revenue by area.
