Making the schedule is probably the most important feature in Eitje. If you are about to make the schedule for the first time, the empty page might feel a bit overwhelming. This article will help you get started.
Before making a schedule, you you need teams and team members. Click on the links to learn how to add those.
Different views
While making the schedule you can easily switch between two views: per team and per team member. There is also a third view: as table. This view does is not for creating new shifts but gives a good overview that can easily be filtered and grouped.
When would you use 'Planning per team'?
You want to clearly see the schedule for a specific team.
You want to know how many hours are planned for a specific team that week.
You want an overview of all the shifts in the kitchen or office.
You want to see the schedule of two venues underneath each other.
When would you use this 'Planning per team member'?
You quickly want to check how many shifts are planned for a team member.
A team member is asking about their schedule.
You want to see the availability of a team member for that week.
You want to see in which venue a team member is working that week.
When would you use 'Planning as a table'?
You want to assemble the table exactly the way you want. You can add columns, and then sort them or pin them. In addition, you can group the data, and apply multiple filters.
You can view the schedule for a specific period, such as the entire month or wage period.
You can easily select, edit and publish multiple shifts.
Create shifts
A schedule consists of shifts. Let's create one:
Navigate to 'Planning' in the menu at the top, either per team or per team member.
Navigate to the right day. Moving your mouse over the day will make new options appear.
Click 'Create shift'. A new window will pop up.
Complete all fields and click 'Save'.

Schedule team members
When creating a shift you can select a team member or leave the shift open. Then it will be an open shift for team members to sign up for.
You can schedule using the availability view. You can see who is available at a glance, and drag the team member to a shift to assign it to them.
Enable the availability under the 'Show' button at the right top corner.
For each day you will now see all team members and their availability.
Drag and drop the available team member to the shift.

You can also schedule a team member by clicking on the shift and selecting a team member in the shift window.
Open the shift you would like to fill.
Select one of the available team members on the right.
Click 'Save'.

Create templates
Does your schedule often look the same, for the entire week, or for specific team members? Then there is no need to create the schedule from scratch every week. You can save time by making templates. You can load these day and week templates into the schedule, so you are done planning in just a few clicks.
